Tanzania Driving Africa’s Digital Transformation Through NICTBB
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) delegation has applauded the Government of Tanzania for its strategic investment in ICT infrastructure, including the National ICT Broadband Backbone (NICTBB) and National Internet Data Center (NIDC).
During their visit to NIDC in Dar es Salaam, the delegation, led by Mr. Prosper Ghislain, CEO of SOCOF, praised Tanzania’s innovative approach, cutting-edge technology, and strong investment in enhancing communication services.
“This facility demonstrates Tanzania’s strong foundation for a digital economy—truly a model for the East African region,” said Mr. Ghislain.
The delegation also toured the NICTBB infrastructure and the company managing the submarine cable network, to observe the operations and management of these critical infrastructures that are transforming regional connectivity
Tanzania is currently implementing the extension of the NICTBB–DRC Project via Lake Tanganyika to Kalemie, a transformative initiative aimed at strengthening cross-border digital infrastructure and boosting regional connectivity across Central and East Africa.
