The National ICT Broadband Backbone (NICTBB) is designed to achieve the following broad objectives: 1. To increase the utilization of ICT in promoting equitable, sustainable socio-economic and cultural development in Tanzania. 2. To establish a Point of Presence (PoP) in all administrative districts across the country. 3. To support and facilitate the implementation of e-government initiatives. 4. To ensure ICT-related services, particularly internet access, are affordable and readily accessible to all Tanzanians. 5. To provide connectivity to international submarine fibre optic cables through the Dar es Salaam landing point, extending access to neighbouring landlocked countries, including Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Malawi, Zambia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. 6. To create a conducive environment for collaboration and partnerships in ICT among the public and private sectors, civil society, and stakeholders at local, national, regional, and international levels. 7. To ensure equal access to the backbone network for all licensed operators, fostering an open and competitive ICT service market.
