What is National ICT Broadband Backbone (NICTBB)

The National ICT Broadband Backbone (NICTBB) is managed and operated by the Tanzania Telecommunications Corporation (TTCL Corporation) on behalf of the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania through the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT). NICTBB plays a critical role in meeting the growing demand for information and communication services, strengthening the competitiveness of domestic data and voice service providers, and bridging the digital divide. It supports the development of high-speed broadband infrastructure and enables efficient utilization of international submarine cable connectivity landing in Dar es Salaam. By providing reliable, high-capacity fiber optic connectivity within Tanzania, across Africa, and to the rest of the world, NICTBB is advancing digital transformation across key sectors, including e-government, e-learning, e-health, and e-commerce.
